Social networking 'success' doesn't extend to offline relationships

This blog was very interesting. It made me wonder about all those people whose friend's list is just insane. And I wonder if they actually know all those people. From this article it doesn't matter how many friends you have it, because cyber life is not the same as real life. It's crazy. I guess looks can be deceiving.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/02/fashion/02dior.html?ref=matthewsaltmarsh

As the legendary designer Coco Chanel once said, ““A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” John Galliano apparently missed that saying in design school.

The French fashion house Christian Dior announced Tuesday that they had started procedures to fire its chief designer, John Galliano. This comes after Mr. Galliano made anti-Semitic outbursts at a Paris bar.

Dior Couture chief executive Sidney Toledano stated in a brief statement “in the strongest terms” the words and actions of Mr. Galliano, “which are in total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the Christian Dior house.

Dior continued to say it had “immediately suspended relations” with Mr. Galliano, continuing that it had “initiated dismissal procedures”.

The video which is the center of this controverse appears to show Mr. Galliano taunting other patrons at the bar La Perle declaring in a slurred voice that “I love Hitler” and that “people like you would be dead,” and “your mothers, your forefather” would all be “gassed”.

From a public relations standpoint Dior has done the right thing. By separating themselves, the connection they once had will only be a distant memory. This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Mr Galliano. It is the Couture shows in Paris this week. Which leaves even more uncertainty about his career.

Late Monday, actress Natalie Portman, who recently signed an endorsement deal with Dior for its Miss Dior Cherie perfume strongly condemned Mr. Galliano. She said; I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.

March 1, 2011 - Mr. Galliano was video taped before and after his firing at the Dior Couture head quarters. It is a sort of relief to see people on the top get what they had coming. Maybe since it happened at such a high scale and at the worst time possible. Dior is taking the high and classier road during this pr nightmare and fashion journalist dream.

The bar where the said event took place is located in a historical Jewish center and home to one of the city’s largest gay communities. Mr. Galliano may say that it was the mix of alcohol and a long day that did him in. But only time will be able to tell what is to become of Mr. Galliano and the Dior. Since this was a blind side to the fashion house the position of creative director is now vacant. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for two of the biggest, well one, of the biggest name in fashion.

Breakfast just got a little less sweet

Some of the most popular children's cereals — Lucky Charms, Trix and Cocoa Pebbles — have cut back on the sugar. A study shows that children are content eating healthier, low-sugar brands

By Elena Conis, Special to the Los Angeles Times

This article discusses how major companies such as General Mills are cutting the sugar content of their cereals. These days it seems as if sugar is everywhere, especially in our morning meal. Chocolate is full of sugar and is sadly a main flavor in the aisle of sugary goodness. Paired with child obesity it is a great thing that GM is taking this small step into a healthier light. Though the cut isn't that much (they now serve 9 grams of sugar verses 14).

If more places cut back on their sugar content without sacrificing great taste, obesity could slowly come to a stop. Sugar, though okay in proper proportions can be a silent killer. Coca Cola alone has 39 grams of sugar, and is more of a contributing factor when it comes to weight gain and other health problems. Also if more kids poured themselves 2 cups of cereal verses a whole bowl. Proportions are key when it comes to keeping the sugar content in check.

the happiest place on earth... a short novel by me...

It does sound cliche' but Disneyland to me really is the happiest place on earth... as of Monday, Nov 22, 2010.

The day started when I received a call from my boyfriend at 9:04am. I had just woken up a hour or so before to wake him up for a test he had at 10:30. So I was kinda mad/confused on why he decided to wake me up. I mean I had just fell back asleep in my nice warm bed, but anywho, he asked me if I wanted to go to Disneyland later on during the day. I laughed and said yes. So around 3 hours later he was done with the test and I still wasn't ready. I chose to fall back asleep and then went to go get gasoline and watch the office and talk to the roomies so I guess it was my fault I wasn't. But thats besides the point. I was ready around 1ish and after asking him why he forgot his jacket like 100 times, we were on our way. Before arriving at Disneyland we made a pit stop at the Tyler Mall. Ran inside and bought a Hurley jacket for my love, since I had a feeling it was gunna be very cold today. ( I have a 6th sense) We had originally planned to stop and get food before we arrived but that slipped from both our minds, since his friends John & Avalon where already on their way to Disneyland and coming from Lakewood, I knew they would be there faster. So after speeding around the 5 and arriving safely & full of nerves we parked in Minnie 8C.

I don't think I had ever been so nervous in my life. As the escalator made the ground closer and closer my palms where sweating. I thought "what if they don't like me? what if they hate me then the whole day will be awful and there goes it all" Avalon smiled and waved to use as we came down. I just stood there and felt like a ghost. As I stepped into the ground she smiled and said hello and gave me a hug. Lets just say I was a lot calmer after that. But from this initial meeting, I still wasn't sure how the day was going to go. The boys talked about which rides they had to go on and which order should they be done in. Having been avoiding California Screaming for the past 10 or so years of my life I tried to give my two-sense on why we shouldn't go to CA-Adventure and just stick with Disneyland. Old school. But then Chris had to open his mouth and inform everyone that I had not been on it and should go today... and of course they agreed. I don't do drops, gunna be honest here. I hate the feeling of loosing my stomach. I hate it. I really do. So we flipped a coin and good ol' George Washington came through for me. Disneyland was first. We rode Pirates and Indiana. Then they decided it was time to go to CA-Ad. I wasn't happy. Chris wanted to just get it over with. But the coin was flipped in my favor again. Soaring was next and it was pretty legit, we got the best seats. But the happiness was short lived. I was literally being dragged onto a ride that almost made me sick just seeing it. I was talked to about how it wasnt that bad and I would be fine. We stood in line for less than 4 minutes. Here's me thinking I have all the time in the world to get mentally prepared. NOPE! We get it, and I asked the ride attendant on how long the drop takes and if I can get off. But again I listened to someone other than my own conscience. I tried to grab both of Chris's hands but he told me it was best to hold the bar thingy with one and just hold one of his hands I was so scared. As I heard the clock count down from 5, 4, 3, 2, O MY!!!!!! I had the grip of life on his hand. The first drop I thought I was going to die.

Throughout the entire ride I closed my eyes and screamed and dug my nails in more and more. At the end I laughed. Then I got a look that said "I told you so". After the ferris wheel, toy story shooting thing, and a nice leg massage, we made our way over to

dining out...

I love it. Something about getting dressed up and going out, & having a fun time is just amazing. Everyone should do this. Well in my opinion. Its a nice thing to do during a busy week or just a way to reward yourself byworking hard through out the break. But it does get a bit cost-ie going out once a week. So I have to remember to live within my means. But there are many ways to keep you dining out cost down. Become a frequent member at some of your favorite places. TGI Fridays has their awards program called "Give Me More Strips". I get various incentives and emails throughout the week. Its pretty cool. Just by using my card I get a beverage free or entree or even better a desert. This is not every week, but when the deals come I usually take them up. Also another tip is to go during happy hour at places like Yard House. All entree's are half off. Its pretty legit if I say so myself. Anywho thats my tips for this week. =)

4.99 for one... or 12 for 10.00... lets do the math...

so those annoying post card things that fall out of magazines, i think are one of the most annoying things in the world. I mean it seems like every page I turn there are just more and more of them. I mean for the love of Anna Wintor leave me alone!!!! But I do get there point. From a marketing stand point it makes sense that they would bombared you with those pesky lil things. And when I do read them, it makes sense for us the consumer to freaking buy the subscription. I have a few subscriptions but they still come with those annoying cards, which I think is the thing that bugs me the most. If I already have it then leave me alone!!! ahhh lol but seriously it is a better deal.
