what is blogging anyways???

Well I to start off, I personally did not know what “blogs” were until I like 3 years ago. At first I thought they were kinda silly. They seemed like a online diary. I thought, who would want to put their personal thoughts on a website so everyone can read them? Crazy people that’s who. But after learning known about the art and skill it does take to write a blog I understand why people do it. It could be a way for them to express themselves in a social media form aside from the typical ways such as Facebook or Myspace. It is also a way for people to keep a certain circle of people in the know of the events of your life. Blogs are not only for recreational writing, but for news and media. It was not very hard to find official news blogs on a news station website. Not only does the station have a blog, but the whole newscast staff has their very own blog. These blogs are filled with information about events happening in the community and around the world.

Come to think about it, I can remember movies and television shows that had blogs featured in them. The movie “The Perfect Man”, starring Hillary Duff, as a traveling teen, documented her experiences and through her blog called “Girl on the Move”. This was her online diary, which many real people actually use their blogs for. In the television show, “Ugly Betty”, the character Betty Suarez creates a blog as her way to get published and get her ideas (philanthropy types) out in the world. By making a buzz online and generating followers, she won a “Bloggy”. Which is like the Grammy of the blogging world. I thought it was a very cute idea.

Blogs are also ways of getting freelance work out in the media world. Which could be a way to get noticed. (For aspiring writers). I personally love reading blogs. They are a insight into the writers world. One gets a quick glimpse into their life and to the interest they enjoy. So bottom line… I love em & their should really be such a thing as a “Bloggy” =)

  1. I totally remember that those movies had blogs in them! But i never would have realized what they were until now. But i agree with you on how using blogs can be a great way of staying connected with people and seeing what is going on in their lives. Also by using it to get yourself noticed out in the media world.
